Standard Diseased Estates Department
Seeing all the bad reviews regarding Standard Bank's Deceased Estates department, I guess this is me joining the club of many unhappy customers. My late Father's Estate is now more than a year old. A very simple, small Estate. My Brother is Executor, and we as beneficiaries, had to finalize a few things and which was done very quickly. The long wait started. Inquiries followed, and I have all the documentation to prove it. There seem to be no reason whatsoever why this is not finalized. We have hit the same wall as the rest of the people here on Hello Peter complaining about this branch of Standard Bank. The last person to deal with our late Father's Estate, is Mr. Benvenuti, and I have tried to contact him via e-mail again after my Brother, the Executor, got a reply from him on the 4th of November, stating that "unfortunately it is with Deceased Estates dept. and they have to finalize things'...but that he will follow up. To date, that has not happened. Even after I sent him an e-mail on the 18th of November asking him to please explain what is going on as we are getting anxious and to please explain what is going on or at least let us know who to contact. Again, no reply. I then phoned, Ayanda Mbhele (who dealt with my late Father's estate right in the beginning and who was always helpful), and she said I must contact Business rescue and Recoveries. I tried to get the e-mail address for them. Eventually I got a response from a Darryl Hanabus at Customer Contact Centre who sent me this e-mail address '***, to send my inquiry to. The e-mail did not go through. I rep**** to Mr. Hanabus asking if there is any other address I could try as it is clearly not correct, with also no reply, now more than a week later. I am at the point where I really do not know who to ask for help. I have sent e-mails to all the e-mail addresses Standard Bank has on their website to address inquiries to. Nobody rep****. All the correspondence kept to prove that it is not due to lack of trying from our side, or due to outstanding documentation or any other reasons I see was used when responding to other unhappy clients on Hello Peter. Standard Bank, my Father was a Client of yours for more than 50 years, supported you and believed you were the best bank in SA. This is how you handle his Estate? Very disappointing! The least you can do is communicate with us and help us settle this.

Matter was resolved, which proves that complaining works! But I also need to compliment someone specifically. A lady that works for Standard Bank Estate division, Ayanda Mbhele, is worth her weight in gold. She has assisted me previously with a problem, and again with this.
I honestly hope Standard Bank realizes what gem they have in this Lady. When she heard of my struggle, she simply took over again and made things happen.
Ayanda Mbhele, may you climb the ladder of success, and thank you for saving the day.
Consumers out there, my advice to you is: Complain if you do not get service! Go onto every social media platform, and keep on 'till you get results.
Thank you Standard Bank (Ayanda)for settling this. Faith restored.
