Standard Bank's involvement in "COVID-19 Term Loan Scheme for SMEs" is a lie
I am writing today about the poor service we've received from our Business Banker Thembu Sizo.
We app**** for the "COVID-19 Term Loan Scheme for SMEs" on the 14th of May 2020, within hours we received an automated email that the loan was rejected due to the Director having defaulted on his Standard bank Home Loan payment. (The irony of it was that in April when Lockdown started he had paid for two months in advance). We brought this to Thembu's attention; no surprise there, five working days later he had done nothing about it. On the 6th day we compelled him to involve his manager and two days later the matter was resolved and we were requested to resubmit our application manually.
Thembu offered nothing in a form of an apology for the manner which he failed to do his job. Yesterday the 3rd of June we received an email from Thembu with feedback from the credit department which seemed more ridiculous than the initial response. What upset us the most as a SMME that employs hundreds of part time staff is that Thembu **** about efforts that are exposing how *********** a consultant he is. We've been going back and forth on this application process for three weeks without either of us having achieved anything.
We were, like most South Africans in the last few weeks; ******** to racial ************** until it happened to us.
Warning: Always request reasons for why your application was declined, in our case it was all "human error".
We hope someone from Standard Bank who actually knows what they are doing will finally look at our application and give it the vetting it deserves.
