Standard Bank's bizarre online banking rules.

My mother is 101 years old. I am a signatory on her Standard Bank account and occasionally have to make payments from the account. In April this year,I tried to pay an account using her online banking and got a message stating that *****ulent activity was taking place. I called the Standard Bank ***** line and was informed that I was not using the same browser and device that I had previously used to make payments on. I explained that I had bought a laptop that supported Windows 11 but still had my old Windows 10 laptop. I was advised to pay on the Windows 10 device. Last week I tried to pay another account and used the Windows 10 device, but was not able to pay. I sent a message to the Standard Bank complaints email and received no reply. I decided to go into the Northgate Branch of Standard Bank where the assistant who helped me seemed surprised that I had not brought both of my laptops into the bank for assistance?????. She asked if I had the banking app on my phone. I explained that for security reasons I do not have the app. I asked if I could pay inside the bank using their online banking facility. The answer was no, because I would not be using the device that I originally used and it would be seen as an attempt to log in using a second device. As I did not have my mother's bank card with me, the bank could not assist me. I ended up paying the account from my FNB account and then used my mother's Standard Bank atm card to withdraw the money from her account. Primitive banking at it's best. I find it bizarre that Standard Bank requires customers to use the same browser and device for every payment. With FNB I can log into online banking using any laptop and browser and once I am authenticated with an OTP online banking is easy. Does it ever occur to Standard Bank that laptops wear out and that people do not always remember which browser they used the last time a payment was made? It also occurs to me that should my mother have to go into frail care, I will not be able to pay the monthly fee from her account. Perhaps I will have to ask Standard Bank to set up a debit order? I wonder how many obstacles I will face with that. Very frustrating.
