Standard bank....beware!! They dont need permission to take your money

My husband is unemployed at the moment and we are unable to pay our usaul amount on the credit card each month. The account is in arrears, and we are aware of it and is in the process of making payment arrangements withth attorneys, since it has been handed over.

My husband is an electrician, so because he is struggling to find work, he has been doing small private jobs for people. He was lucky enough to get a bigger job this month, that would pay a bit more. He quoted on the job and said that he needs R12000 deposit for all the supplies that he needs like lights, wire, fittings, steel etc. They paid the money over in to his cheque account at Standard bank. The next morning when he wanted to go buy his supplies he realized theres only R3000 in his account. Standard Bank has taken R9000 for the arrears, without asking or confirming with us that they can do so! He later on got a message from Standard Bank saying thank you for the payment????

Is this even legal?? Even if its a bank...you cannot just take money feom someones account when you see there are funds going into the account, without first contacting the person whose money it us. We have tried to reverse it with Standard Bank but no luck. We are basically *****ed now because we need R9000 so that he can start the job.

Thank you Standard Bank...we should've read that fine print when we opened the cheque and credit accounts by you...'beware we may just take your money as we please, without you permission!'

This is sooo wrong.
