Standard Bank wrongfully handed over account after settlement

On the15th of May 2020 we requested a settlement on our credit card (Limit was R2500), whereby we were offered an early settlement discount value of R 3070. On the 20th of May 2020 we made the payment at the Standard Bank Branch in Centurion into the account they provide us, and also we explicitly request that the account be closed immediately.

Now, nearly 6 months later, we received a legal notice from MBD attorneys stating that we owe them money for a Standard Bank Credit card account, the same account we paid up, due to Standard bank Blocking the card and handing us over.

We contacted both MBD Attorneys and Standard Bank, requesting the reason for this and why this was done as the account was paid up and nothing was outstanding, the answer they gave us, the account was never closed and therefore additional penalties was levied on the account. MBD Attorney's answer was that we paid the money into the wrong account and these are now admin fee levied against the account.

We've sent through both the correspondence and the proof of payment to both parties, but they are addiment that these fees must be paid and they are refusing to sent us the settlement letter as per our request.

Standard Bank's only response is that they will look into this and revert back as this was incorrectly actioned, a mistake they admit to, but they can not resolve this for us and not only that, but the adverse affect this is having on our credit record does not seem to bother them one bit. If we do not contact them daily, they do not respond back to us or even gives us feedback as to how they are resolving the matter

the service at standard bank is extremely shocking and it has been as if they have no regard for their clients.

We constantly been in contact with Percy (Line Manager) - if he is available, Tulani about the above matter, with no feedback and they seem to not know how they are going to resolve the matter and supply us with the settlement letter to clear our TransUnion report,
