STANDARD BANK: WORST FINANCIAL INSTITUTION

<p>I am fuming as I am writing this review!!</p> <p> </p> <p>I have never in my life experienced such pathetic and disgusting customer service and this when closing my accounts at Standard Bank.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have 3 accounts with Standard Bank namely, my Personal Cheque Account, RCP account and Credit Card Account.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have been unemployed for the last 1&1/2 years and have been struggling to pay my monthly instalments. I have been keeping the bank informed and had every intention to pay. Nevertheless they still handed me over to Strauss Daly attorneys and I was listed with the Credit Bureau.</p> <p> </p> <p>In Feb this year I went into the Branch and paid up all 3 accounts, I was offered discounts on these accounts should I want to settle them and was sent settlement letters. I was told that I would receive paid up letters and the accounts will be closed. I only received 1 letter for the credit card account immediately.</p> <p> </p> <p>After having to go into the bank again to follow up on the other 2 letters, I then received the letter for the RCP a month after paying up the account. The letter for the personal cheque account was still outstanding.</p> <p>I constantly phoned Standard Bank, only to be told they have requested the letter and are still waiting on it. In the meantime Standard Bank has the nerve to hand me over to another attorney, Norton Attorney's, to get their money out of me, which I have already paid to them. The attorney's just tells me I need to speak to Standard Bank as Standard Bank handed the account over.</p> <p>I eventually get through to Standard Bank collections department, only to be told by Nicolene Mattews that they are waiting on the settlement letter from Strauss Daly, not once when speaking to Strauss Daly did they mention to me that they were supposed to send the settlement letter to Standard Bank.</p> <p> </p> <p>According to Nicolene Matthews, once the attorneys sends the client the settlement letter they have to send it onto Standard Bank too, incompetence on Strauss Daly's part!!!! So I do Strauss Daly's job for them and send the letter to Standard Bank as I had a copy of the letter. Ok so now Standard Bank finally has the much awaited letter from Strauss Daly, note that Standard Bank can see on their system that I have paid this money, but also didn't once contact the attorney's for the letter. On the other hand the attorney's are harassing me, knowing full well it was their responsibility to send the letter to the Ban****</p> <p> </p> <p>You'd think that because of the hell I was put through that they'd put an urgency on this matter, no!!!!</p> <p>I have to follow up daily, I don't get any response from Standard Bank at all as to how far they are with the process. If I didn't follow up, I wouldn't have gotten a response. Then Nicolene Matthews gives them the incorrect account number which just delays it further. So now I have to do the Banks job again and provide them with the correct account number!!</p> <p>Eventually almost 2 weeks later I get the much awaited paid up letter from Justin Pillay, hooray I have the letter so the account should now be closed right??</p> <p> </p> <p>Well guess again, the damn Bank hands me over to a 3rd attorney, Macroberts attorneys!!!! I tell them that they must liaise with the Bank as this account is closed as I have received the paid up letter, only to be told by the attorney's that I need to contact the bank myself.</p> <p> </p> <p>Anway I contact the bank, I ask them what the heck is going on why am I still being harassed by the attorneys. Their response, 'oh we see the paid up letter was sent to you, we are going to recall the account from the attorney's, you shouldn't be receiving anymore calls from the attorneys'</p> <p> </p> <p>No apology whatsoever from the bank, not one!!!! I also receive an sms from the attorneys to say that I have been listed and I need to pay this account if I want my name removed from the credit bureau!!!</p> <p>This is a problem for me now as I have been asked to come and contract at my old employer and they are going to do vetting. I contact the Credit Bereau for a credit report and lo and behold all 3 accounts have been listed!!!!!!!</p> <p> </p> <p>So can you imagine my frustration and anger, as I have all 3 paid up letters now but I am still listed! So if I don't get this job, it's going to be because of pathetic service and incompetence from Standard Bank and their attorney's and still no apology!!!!!!</p> <p> </p> <p>Please advise how you can assist me with this matter.</p> <p> </p> <p>Thank you.</p>
