Standard bank won't close paid up term loan

I have been trying to close off my standard bank personal loan (which is fully paid up) and every time I go to the branch I am given a new story as to why the account has not been closed. They first promised 24 hours but now that has come and gone and nothing!

Please Standard Bank, just closed the account so that I don't have to incur further service charges.
