Standard Bank: Urgent Assistance Needed – Unable to Pay Bond Shortfall Due to Missing Account

In urgent need of assistance.

I had a bond with Standard Bank. When I sold my property, there was a small shortfall. I was told that an account would be opened so that I could pay money into it to cover the shortfall.

After the sale, no one contacted me, so I tried to contact Standard Bank myself multiple times. After sending numerous emails, I eventually received what I was told was an account number that I could pay into from a Standardbank representative. I was honestly very relieved at that point. However, when I tried to make a payment, Standard bank banking app said that the account number does not exist.

Since then, I have tried many times to get help from Standard Bank, this communication issues persist for approximately four months of which. Have all the emails to prove, but I keep getting passed from one person to another with no resolution.

At the moment, I am being harassed daily by about five different legal firms, mostly via text messages containing links to make direct payments to unknown accounts. I have not received a single formal email explaining what is happening or who actually has my account.

I am desperately trying to sort this out and make payment, but at this point I feel my only option is to contact the Banking Ombudsman. It honestly feels like Standard Bank is avoiding helping me in order to force legal action. This is not what was discussed or agreed when the shortfall was arranged. The only reason that I signed the document provided by Standardbank was because they assured me that an account will be opened of which I will be able to make a payment into. It honestly feels like Standard Bank is avoiding helping me in order to force legal action. This is not what was discussed or agreed when the sale was made, it feels so unfair. All I have now is harassment from law firms on a daily basis.
