STANDARD BANK STRIKES AGAIN!
I had closed my account with Standard Bank as of the end of March 2019. I had to wait long hours in the Woodstock branch in Cape Town to do this, after settling all my loans and accounts. I confirmed with both the branch manager and service consultant that all accounts were closed. Standard bank has confirmed that they received the settlement. On the 30th of April, Standard Bank attempted to debit my new bank account for one of the loans. The debit was reversed and I was sent a message to say my account was in arrears. I do not understand how this could be the case if I have closed all accounts and confirmed this with the MANAGER OF THE BRANCH. When calling the debt collections line, I was told that I would need to go back to the branch ONCE AGAIN, to get confirmation of the cancellation. I was also refused the right to speak with a manager. 1) HOW DOES STANDARD BANK NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR OWN CLOSURE DOCUMENTS? 2) THIS WILL MEAN STANDING IN A LINE AGAIN, RECEIVING SUBPAR SERVICE, AND NEEDING TO VERIFY INFORMATION ALL OVER AGAIN BECAUSE STANDARD BANK WOODSTOCK DID NOT DO IT'S JOB.
THIS IS PITIFUL AND QUITE FRANKLY, DISTURBING. The point of closing my account at Standard Bank was to never have to deal with them again. And yet, here they are, trying to wangle their way into more money for an account that CONFIRMED BY THE BRANCH MANAGER, WAS CLOSED.
I have honestly had it with Standard Bank!
