Standard Bank Stole R98 218,63 from me!

Standard Bank Stole R98 218.63 from my account today!

Here is how they did it:

On 4 May 2016 I went to Standard Bank Loch Logan in Bloemfontein to obtain proof of my bank account details in order to provide this proof to an attorney who managed the sale of my property so that this attorney could pay the proceeds of the sale to me.

Standard Bank Loch Logan provided me with this proof of my bank account details, signed and confirmed by the branch manager, and I forwarded this document to my attorney.

On the afternoon of May 8, 2016 I received an email from my attorney confirming that the property has now registered in the new owner's name and that he has paid the money owed to me to my bank account.

I checked my bank account and noticed that the funds were not showing in my account. I then checked the bank account number that he (the attorney) paid the money to and noticed that it was different from my bank account number. Upon querying this I was informed that the account number the money was paid to was in fact the number on the proof of bank account details.

It now became evident that the proof the bank provided to me contained an incorrect bank account number. The bank, through their customer service agent ,committed either ***** or made themselves guilty of gross negligence.

I informed the attorney and he immediately informed the SAPS and logged a complaint of ***** with the bank. He further informed Mr. Daniel Lekwene, Senior Manager at Standard Bank of what had transpired. Mr Lekwene failed to respond to my attorney, despite several attempts to contact him.

I approached Standard bank in Bloemfontein and also informed them of my discovery. The manager at the Brandwag branch assisted me and, after consulting with my attorney, took the necessary actions to prevent the money from being cleared into the wrong account.

This morning, May 10, the Brandwag bank manager phoned me and informed me that he had intercepted the funds and allocated it to my bank account, which was the intended account for the money. I checked my bank account and confirmed that the funds were in fact showing in my account.

I was obviously grateful for his assistance in preventing the misallocation of my funds.

To my horror I discovered this morning at around 11:00 that my account balance was R0.00. I went to the bank and was informed by the customer services agent that my account was frozen and that all my money was withdrawn from my account.

The manager contacted Mr. Lekwene and informed him of what had happened. Mr. Lekwene informed the manager that unless my attorney withdraws his complaint (on my behalf), the money would not be released to me. The manager contacted my attorney and informed him as such.

The manager told me that he would keep me informed on the progress of resolving this issue.

Around 14:00 this afternoon, the bank manager contacted me and informed me that he has received communication form head office that my funds would NOT be released to me.

I informed my attorney, who in turn again emailed Mr Lekwene regarding the situation. We have still not received a single comment by Mr. Lekwene.

I now sit with no money, a frozen bank account - which means that none of my debit orders will be successful next week, costing me money and a bad credit rating, and no idea when the bank is going to release my money.

In addition to all of this, I sit with a sick kitten at home and no money to take him to the vet. I swear that if something happens to Coco (my kitten) I will go after this bank with everything I have!

I appeal to anyone at Standard Bank, able to help a loyal customer, to get me my ****** money back!

The resolution specialist, Ms Zeenath Hassen contacted me and informed me that I could contact her during this investigation process for feedback. I have made 3 phone calls to her in the last week and left 2 messages. No Response! I have sent 3 emails to her, also no response. Besides this, when she contacted me, she informed me that it is up to ABSA bank to recall the funds from Standard bank - after consulting with ABSA bank's ***** department, they told me that this is the incorrect process.

I have been wronged by Standard Bank and the bank keeps acting as if this is no big deal. I have not had a single appology from the bank, nor have I had anybody from the bank make a visible effort to resolve this issue and get me my money back. All that I have been told is that because I have reported this as *****, I must now deal with the payer's bank (ABSA) to retrieve the funds back to the payer in order for him to pay me again.

This is nonsense. I fail to see why I must suffer, financially and emotionally, and run around trying to sort out this mess that Standard bank has caused. I cannot believe that Standard bank is acting in such a non-caring, non-helpful manner after their staff has made such a global ****up of this entire situation! It is no wonder this bank is voted the worst bank in South Africa in the South African Customer Satisfaction Index .
