STANDARD BANK STAFF NO UNDERSTANDING
My initial credit card application was done entirely online with telephonic and e-mail confirmations and was an absolute pleasure. Approximately a year later I received a call from Standard Bank offering me an increase on my credit card. All details were given telephonically and the system apparently approved x amount (Which was substantially higher than I expected) and was told I just needed to go to the branch to complete the application. The consultant who initially helped me said she had to leave but her colleague would continue assisting me. Well, after waiting for 2 hours, this young (unfriendly) consultant took my bank statement and started adding my debits. I said she should ask if she has any questions as I could clearly see that she was including once off payments (which had other deposits on my account to cover) and I also advised her that I had had a duplicate debit that month which was reversed. She barely responded and had an attitude of "she knows what she's doing" I knew straight away that with the information she was inputing the system would not approve it and of course it didn't. She handed me back my bank statements where I could clearly see that she had ticked and included the double debit. Amongst other debits which are 30 day agreements not monthly and had other credits to cover. ie. every single debit was taken as my "monthly expenses" but not every credit was taken into consideration. Needless to say, I left the branch very irritated and frustrated at the arrogant attitude and waste of my time. There was no attempt to communicate or understand my bank statement. I have recently app**** for a personal loan online with the intention of settling another bank and sorting out some other needs (also my instalment will be less) The system approved my application and referred me to a branch for assistance, I cringe at the thought of going to a branch and would rather seek assistance from another financial institution than have to go through the same experience.
