Standard Bank provides putrid service to the elderly, completely unhelpful!!!
My dad is 73 years old and has had a credit card with standard bank for as far back as he can remember, they have been charging him for a garage card service fees and delivery which he has never had. He has been to the branch many times and called in and i even went into a branch and sat with him and held strong with the consultant till he got a time limit for the resolve, It was supposed to be done in 5 days and this was on 6th January 2022. It is now the 24th of February 2022 and we still cannot get any joy with an issues that has been confronted from May 2021?
They expect my dad to prove that he does not have the garage card, isnt the onus upon the bank to show documentation that he signed for delivery of it and activated it? They reversed only the most recent delivery charge which shows that they admit that it was never delivered and this is only because it was easy to find, nobody has been willing to go back into the history of the card and look for these incorrect charges. My dad is a full time employed 73 year old who no longer has the energy for this and this is how standard bank treats him, they only thing they are good for giving out is reference numbers. They are continuously charging interest on these undue charges which is sitting on that card and now he does not even have full use of the facility. Standard Bank was merrily accepting him paying the charges every month even while not using the card when i realised something is wrong, you cannot be paying so much per month when the card is not even being utilized and now that he stopped paying, they are quick to send emails about arrears and will gladly ruin his credit rating at his age before they actually help a customer, let alone an elderly, long standing customer.
