Standard Bank PAY BACK THE MONEY
I made two internet payments into a Standard Bank account recently, which turned out to be my wife's now defunct credit card instead of her new debit card. Standard Bank had closed her credit card last year while we where out of the country and we opened a new debit account. The bank told me as the account no longer existed the money went into a \Standard Bank holding account\" at Card Division. I agreed to pay the bank the R600 service fee to retrieve the money and did receive a response after two weeks. I was told the money was there but that there was 'a problem' getting it back as it involved another department ? That was another two weeks ago. Since then I have phoned numerous times, left messages etc. I sit on the line for hours only to be told they will get back to me by the end of the day! That of course never happens. I do not have access to the 'person' supposedly retrieving the money. What I don't understand is why Standard Bank cannot return my money to me if it is held internally and why the money left my account in the first place if the beneficiary no longer exists? This has me seriously worried - Pay back the money !!!"
