Standard Bank not very helpful

On 3 March I asked the teller at Capitec to tranfer money into my brothers Standard bank account. Somehow something went wrong and the money was deposited into the wrong account. Capitec has tried to assist but does not have the authority to debit money out of any account without permission from the account holder. It being another bank further complicates the matter, as Capitec has to rely on Standard bank to contact their client who received the money in error on Capitec's behalf. Standard bank has been unable to gain the permission to retrieve the funds from their client and has denied Capitec's attempts at a recall.

What am I to do now, is the money just gone with no care from Standard bank.

I feel so despondent after many more phone calls to Standard Bank, I have been told that there is nothing they can do for me. They have tried to make contact with their client on his/her cell but were unsucessfull. How many attempts did they actually make before they just decided to throw in the towel and why is it that they can say this client is unreachable when every person who opens an account in this country has to be FICA compliant. Surely they can try something other than trust a call to a cellphone. Am I just to accept that I have donated R13000 to a complete stranger. Surely there is another way.

Thanks for the reply Kabelo. It just seems like neither bank is interested in helping me. Capitec said they do not have the authority to recall from another bank and you are saying the opposite.
