Standard Bank Not to be Trusted Cunning Irresponsible Activities to gain at the Expense of it's Customer

I took a homeloan with the bank in 2002 then subsequently took further loan on the same account in 2008. I am covered for a homeloan insurance with the same bank. In 2017 I was permanently mefically boarded with spinal sternosis. I informed the bank filled in all necessary documentation. In 2018, February I received a call and told my homeloan account was paid up with effect from 20th same month. However, the bank continued to deduct the instalment from the overdraft as there were no longer suffient money coming to my account. The bank then without any notice to my husband they deducted also from his account money for homeloan owed by myself. We could not believe the drama. That money was never repaid back to my husband's account since he adked for his refund. Up to June 2018 the bank was not crediting any monies to pay off the bond. Around June the bank started paying what they called was an insurance towards my temporal disability cover. When I asked for signed papers for thr cover I took they said they don't keep records for accounts over 10 years even if the account is still active. I reporyed this to Ombuds bsnking they refused to assist saying the initial account was opened in 2002 and cannot help with subsequent loans queries. I then approached Ombudsman Insurance, this did not help much. I pleaded with thr bank to compensate me for the error which they alleged was made by their employee thay my account has been paid up. They refused to usr professional indemnity and said they habe disciplined their staff by giving her six months warning. The only compensation they could give is R10 thousand rand which I refused.

I took the matter to my attorney who got an Advocate as well and the communication with the bank and it's external lawyers is on as the bank is pleading not guilty. What is also amazing last week I received letter of demand threatening judgements and repossession from other lawyers. The sad part is that for a homeloan balance of less than R400 thousand I was paying over R1500 per month, currently the debt is sitting at over R550 thousand and for insurance monthly payment of over R2500 cover for death benefit. What an insensitive irresponsible and unprofessional treatment by this highly esteemed bamking institution. The case is on I have subsrwuently been fortunate to find records which the bank claims does not have which are in line with the bank's representative cover the official from the bank said the bank insurance has paid to settle my debt. I was owing less than R400 thousand. The bank claimed and got over R750 thousand and never paid off my account.
