Standard Bank "Not moving Africa forward" Second round

After the bank took so long to approve (ref: ********** ) my further loan because I had app**** for little money than the builder required. Now that the bond has been registered (account #: ********** 03)I am struggling for the bank to make progress payments.

I signed the bond agreement with the lawyers and on the 13th of June, I was informed by the standard bank call centre that I don’t have to submit a progress payment form because the lawyers were going to make payment to my account after receiving the money from the bank. On the 4th of July 2016, I got hold of the lawyers to ask what is happening with the funds. The lawyers informed me that I had to submit a further loan form to the bank which the lawyers gave me for the second time.

I phoned the call centre to ask for a fax or email I can forward the form. To my shock I was informed I cannot submit the form on line or fax, as I had to go to a branch and submit the form. I went to a branch that was close to my house to submit the form. Again to my surprise I was informed that I had the wrong form as the form had been updated. I asked why the bank provided the old form to the lawyers and never got an answer.

I was asked to complete a new form and the consultant faxed the form. Soon after faxing he honed the call centre to confirm receipt and he was informed it takes a minimum of 3 hours before they can see the fax. So he was advised that I should phone at 9am to check progress. I phoned the call centre at 10am and they said they haven’t received the form and I should phone at 1pm. I phoned the call centre again at 1pm and I was informed that the form is not yet received and I have to go to the branch to resubmit the form.

I asked the consultant why I can’t submit the form I have from the lawyers and she said the form needs a bank stamp. I asked why the bank stamp is so important considering no one verifies my account or ID when I submit the form. The consultant’s answer was that It is required by the product team to have the bank stamp. I think this is just pathetic, considering they don’t verify details. Also as it emerged I was able to submit the form if it had a stamp.

As a client of this bank I am very disappointed, for a bank that prides in moving Africa forward. The bank is doing a very bad job.
