Standard Bank - Never Ever use them

I bought a vehicle at a dealership in Klerksdorp and financed it through Standard Bank back in 2021 . Unfortunately the vehicle was mechanically not in good shape and the deal was cancelled shortly after the purchase. The dealership assured me that the car was s****ped from my name and that no debit orders will be debited . I purchased another car and financed it through a different bank . But suddenly in December 2025 a premium was debited by Standard bank without my permission and i received a statement showing i am iin arrears and still owe Standard bank R49000. For the car i did not have. The same car that we cancelled back in 2021 I also received sms messages and phone calls from debt collectors hired by Standard Bank ...After several queries to the dealership the lady eventually confirmed that according to Standard bank the m8stake was made by the STANDARD BANK IT department and that the bank promised to rectify their mistake and it should be done by the 1st of January 2026. Later the lady at the dealership send me a reference number obtained from Standard Bank, and she said that i must contact Standard Bank on Friday 09 January then they will confirm and issue a letter to me as proof that the account was closed and my name was cleared. When i contacted Standard Bank the first two ladies could not assist me and both verified me. I contacted the lady at the dealer again and i formed her that i was unsuccessful. She then contacted the bank and later 8nformed me that someone will phone me within 10 minutes. Needless to say after more than 20 minutes i received a call from a guy who once again needed my information in order to verify me, this after his other 2 colleagues also verified me. Obviously my blood was boiling by now and i used harsh language. He then just told me that before Standard bank can clear my name i must go to the nearest branch in order for them to VERIFY me . I totally list it and dropped the phone. .

This is absurd and absolutely pathetic. I dud not have the vehicle , i did not make any payments after the deal was cancelled and it never showed on my name . All of a sudden after 4 years i receive statements and threats for money that i apparently owe to the bank ..

I was handed over to debt collectors and my good name was severely damaged by Standard bank

I have sent several e mails to different departments of the bank but i still have not received any feedback , only one reply that said my complaint was escalated ...

This is absolutely pathetic and makes me want to vomit. Standard bank is the worst ever and i need them to clear my name asap..
