Standard Bank - Moving Backwards
Standard Bank - Moving backwards I have been with Standard Bank for over 35 years and until recently have been very happy with them. This year have had numerous problems but the latest is that it is normal to receive an sms on every occasion that money is deposited or withdrawn from your account. At the end of May we were on holiday with no access to a bank or ATM and being the end of the month with salary coming in and debit orders going out and I had no idea of my balance. On returning home had to go into the bank to get a bank statement. The problem was stated as a Standard Bank IT problem. This month again problems. On the 22 June I spent R2850 on vehicle repairs and approx R500 on fuel and nothing came through. On the 25 June my salary was paid into my account, but no sms. I am aware of another approx R500 being paid into my account. The strange thing is that some sms's on withdraws or payments are coming through, just not all of them. This again does not allow you to feel safe or that your money is being managed correctly. After 3 emails to the banks "Complaints Resolution Centre" I still had no reply. I then phoned them and was told it was an IT problem and they would refer it to their IT Department. But the problem is still not resolved. And just to make matters worse when I enter my cell phone number into their complaints page it states that my e mail address is not valid. It is valid and is a Telkom address, the result was that I had to use my work email address. I really am thinking that it is time to move my account to another bank and find a safe bank to invest in.
