Standard Bank lost my money
On Friday 4th September 2020 in the evening, I transferred R4000.00 from my Standard Bank Gold Credit Card to my Cheque account, an inter-account transfer within the same bank. I did so using the Standard Bank App. After the transfer took place, an error popped up on my app and although the amount had been deducted off of my credit card, it was not visible under my recent transactions and the funds had not been allocated to my cheque account. I assumed this was in error and decided to wait for the following day, to call the bank.
On Saturday 5th September 2020 I called the bank to be told by a consultant that the transaction had gone through twice in error, one had been declined but that the other had approved. I was told to wait 24 hours and that the funds would be visible in my account.
On Monday 7th September 2020 I called the bank yet again as the funds had not appeared in my cheque account and the transfer was still not visible under my recent transactions, although the credit card had been debited. I spoke to a very polite consultant who advised that the transfer had only been processed on Monday as a business day and that the funds should be visible in my account very shortly after the call.
Today, Tuesday 15th September 2020 I have called the bank YET AGAIN, as the funds are still not visible in my cheque account nor is the transaction visible, yet the funds are still missing. I spoke to a consultant who eventually verified my number to call me back, which still hasn't happened.
I am fuming as the bank has apparently lost this money and is in no hurry to reverse the transaction. It's scary that something like this can happen. Waiting gor a solution...
