Standard Bank lack of customer care

In June 2017, I decided to put my property on the market. I sent the my private banker an email serving notice to which I received this response "The following Cancellation Notice was SMSed to client on cel number: *********x : Please note that notice interest given to Standard Bank was loaded on 2017-06-29 and will expire on 2017-09-26 on account number yyyyyyyyyy.

The lawyers requested the guarantees on the 22 March 2018. The property got registered on the 31st May 2018. Standard Bank charged me a notice interest of R3400.00 and when I make the follow up with the Bank I was told I had to renew the notice every three months. If this is so crucial, why didnt the Bank mention on the email sent to me on the 29 June 2017 that is important to renew notice given. I tried to ask my banker to intervene, I called the compalints department, the home loans department and nothing came out of it.

Is the Bank's confirmation message this short and serve as a catch to clients. Why are you not sending reminder after every three months (just like you would when one skip credit card payment).

I am so dissapointed with Standard Bank and I beleive I have overstayed with them. It is time to switch Banks.

Good day Ms Mathuloe

I refer to the recent complaint raised with the bank and am happy to confirm that your suite have motivated that the notice interest charged on the cancelled home loan, be refunded to you.

It has, as per criteria, now been paid over to your new home loan account in our books, and we are now in process of refunding this to your current account.

I am sorry that you were not correctly informed that the 90 days’ notice, must be renewed once expired.

I am however happy that we could assist you in this matter.

Kind regards

Penny Rabe
