Standard Bank Kills Black Business
I run Soweto's first ever distillery, due to Covid and being off for almost two years I was forced to shut down operations. During the time off I was trying to get more business for when the covid regulations would possibly come to an end. In the process I managed to secure a deal with a large Cash and Carry store, who was also a former customer. Before the purchase order was issued which was in October I started searching for banks that could assist in executing the purchase order.
I went to the Jabulani mall branch and I was told the business banker is not stationed there and was advised to visit the Maponya mall branch. In the same breath the consultant ( Sizakele Tshabalalab) sent the business banker an email advising they should call me. And as we all can guess, the banker ( Pertunia Moilwe) never even rep**** to my email. I later went to the Maponya mall branch, and told the branch manager (Tshepo Sealetsa). Tshepo asked me to send all documents to him and will find out if I can be assisted, because it was end of the year I opted to put it hold and check early January. Fast forward to January after Tshepo said I should send the documents and frequently calling to see if an application was made.he no longer took my calls, I called the standard bank call center and an agent sent a request to the business banker who miraculously called asked that I should send all documents, which I did and said she will make an application for me and this was early January. She only took my call again on the 31'st of January and wasn't taking my calls since the year started. Even when attempting to call the bank manager, he also never took my calls. The reason I made an application was because my purchase order was spanned out to 36 months and because the distillery is not in a position to manufacture and distribute for such high volumes. Well, I've lost the deal that was worth R 4 million, thanks to Standard bank because I just wouldn't be able to deliver on time with my equipment, worse even permanent jobs would've been created, to think a large corporation as Standard bank would make huge campaigns saying its for the people yet the bank kills black business and this would've been easily avoided by telling me they couldn't help, instead of being led on for month and not taking my calls. If they call this customer service its shocking.
