Standard Bank; It can't be
My Home Loan was approved by Standard Bank; I was told if I move my account to Standard Bank; I will get an interest rate cut. I went to Westgate branch to open the account. I was referred to a Consultant (Ursula) by the host; to get quotations on home loan insurance. Ursula called a lady by the name of Bernice to assist me with opening the cheque account and migrating my debit orders from my current bank to Standard Bank. Bernice picked up that according to the Standard Bank system; I have an ID document which was issued on 2010/09/20. I do not have such; the only ID I have is the one issued on 1999/02/16 which is the same ID I used to apply for the home loan. I was made to feel like a ********* when I was ushered to the Enquiries counter where my finger prints were verified; they matched those on their system. The ID they had on their system is one which was issued on 2010/09/20 with the same photo as my passport which was issued on 23/07/2015. Bernice told me to apply for a smart ID; temporary ID and get a Hanis report from Home affairs and bring all the documents together with proof that I app**** to a smart ID to the branch before an account can be opened for me. I went to Home Affairs on 02/10/2020 to acquire all the required documents. On 05/10/2020 I went to Standard Bank, The Glen to open the bank account. I presented all documents; the Consultant scanned my ID into the system; confirmed my finger prints and told me the documents were unnecessary as she positively identified me and my finger prints matched those on the system. Berinice called me on 09/10/2020 enquiring how far I was in obtaining the required documents; I told her I opened the account already and the documents she asked for were not taken into account; she told me I need to submit the documents. I went to submit the documents at Westgate branch on 10/10/2020; only to learn that my account is blocked. I was assisted by a very friendly lady by the name of Doreen Paleogolu; she scanned all the documents into the system and send them through to the ***** Department. She explained to me that the department works Mondays - Fridays and that we should get a response from them within 48 hours. On 14/10/2020 I got an email from Doreen informing me that she received a response from *****; they request that I submit dated 2010/09/20; she then referred the matter back to them explaining that I do not have an ID issued on that date. I changed my debit order details to the new Standard Bank account; beneficiaries are unable to verify the account details as my account. Resolution: I want Standard Bank to resolved this mess. I only have one ID document; I don't work for Home Affairs I can't account for an ID I have no knowledge of. All my debit orders must be loaded into the new account; Bernice must be disciplined and I want an apology.
