Standard Bank, is there anyone out there actually reading my requests?

Go to Standard Bank’s web site and listen to their adverts in the media and you would think that Standard Bank really care for their clients.

‘In uncertain times be certain of our support”.

In my experience, it is just marketing vapour.

Two examples:

1. REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE

On 17 April 2020, I sent an email to Standard Bank’s Debt Care Centre asking whether Standard Bank offer a payment holiday on bond repayments as two of my tenants were unable to pay their full rental.

I have to date not been honoured with the courtesy of a reply.

2. PERSONAL DETAILS CHAGE

Since August 2019, I have been trying to update my personal details on my Standard Bank Credit Card.

On 13 August 2019, Tinyiko Mathebula (Customer Contact Centre E-mail Unit) informed me, via email, that I need to go into a Standard bank branch to change my postal address.

I went into the Standard Bank Branch in Newton Park (Port Elizabeth) with all the required documentation and assumed that my details were updated.

On 12 March 2020, I received my Standard Bank Credit Card statement, still indicated my incorrect postal address. (I receive my statements via email). I sent an email to the email address listed on my statement.

Two days later I received an email from Oraile Mosikari (24/7 Banking Team) requesting more information.

I sent the required information and on 20 March 2020, received an email from Michael Van Der Walt (Always on 24/7) requiring still further information. I rep**** with the requested details on the same day.

Today (10 May 2020) I received my statement which still reflects the incorrect postal address.

What more would you like me to do?

I have noted your “automated Standard response” and look forward to having these two issues attended to.
But as the old cliché goes: “actions speak louder than words”.

I am always perplexed why it takes hellopeter posts to get Standard Bank to react to client’s requests. This was not the first time that I have experienced this attitude with Standard Bank and judging by the posts here, I am not the only one.

At least Standard Bank reacts to these posts, a lot of companies don't bother.

Thank you, Clint Petersen, for escalating these two issues.

Hopefully I will get an answer to my first question and my personal details will finally be updated.

Thank you hellopeter for providing us with this forum.
