Standard Bank International receipts stinking
Standard Bank international division seem to conveniently delay processing incoming foreign receipts when the ZAR rate is favourable and are quicker when the rate is depreciating. This week foreign payments made from external banks with SWIFT/MT103 dated 21 Have to date not been settled as the ZAR is firming thereby depriving customers a favourable rate and increasing Bank profit. The same could not be said last month end when the Rand lost ground against the majors with foreign receipts settled quickly. This is true as funds to other regional banks have been settled 36 hours prior. Attempts to call them on + ********** 00051 prove fruitless as the line is never going through. I tried calling through + ********** 0423 and got transferred to international where I surrendered after being on hold for 50mins in a que. Surely this is beyond the bank service delivery standard or is partly because clients are having to call to trace due to deliberate delays in releasing receipts??? This warrants investigating and cannot be correct.
