Standard Bank Homeowners Insurance Claim

I wish to place on record a complaint that I have with Standard Bank Insurance iro claim no. 21/019504 of 4 March 2021.

I called into Standard Bank Insurance on 4 March and lodged a claim for a section of the fascia board at my home which had been dislodged by a storm/wind.

Standard Insurance was very quick to allocate a service provider (Suburbs Investments (JHB)(tel. no. ***) to come out to my home and assess the damage.

Kirsty of Suburbs Investments called and told me that a gentleman by the name of William would be coming over at 11h00, which he did.

Firstly, he arrived at my premises to climb onto my roof without a step ladder??? When he arrived he asked if he could make use of our step ladders which we obliged him with - no problem.

He climbed up to the roof and after inspection said that the fascia was about to fall so shouldn’t he just take it off. We agreed to this.

Bearing in mind that the fascia boards separate pieces were all still intact and in good condition to just be positioned back he let slip the longest part of the fascia board off the roof onto the ground which caused this to smash into pieces (irreparable now). I immediately told him that he shouldn’t have done that as firstly, it could have hurt one of us. It smashed onto an old wooden table that we have standing outdoors and even buckled the one side of this table.

He then proceeded to let down the other two remaining pieces of the fascia board very carefully into my husband’s hands to be placed carefully on the floor.

Never dreaming that my claim would be rejected I let William go on his tracks back to his employer. Not that I have formally been advised by Standard Bank Homeowners Insurance of the outcome of my claim.

If I don't chase both the insurance company and the appointed assessor Suburbs Investments - Kirsty - they completely forget about their paying client.

I now wish to claim for the one broken and irreparable fascia board that William negligently let fall and break into pieces.

It is.now the end of yet another day and I am still awaiting a solution to this issue as I would like to get the entire fascia board repair job done as quickly as possible.

Many thanks.
