Standard Bank Homeowners insurance
What an Absolute disappointing experience,
Dealing with your Call centre's, unprofessional system where you are next in the que waiting for 15 to 20 mins online only to be cut off, or have your call cut off on the other end, after 6 months trying to get and response on the Storm water damage due to the flood rains in April 2021, finally getting an rejection letter is making me doubt if I'm with the right Banking institution, not getting any assistance from anyone in the prestige bankers department, complaints department or claims or anywhere else for that matter,
unfortunately do not have the means or financial backing to seek legal advice support,
Lets start at the beginning, I signed an offer to purchase on the 14/06/2021 after a lengthily delay upon delay from the seller and Lawyers and property agents i finally 7 months later got the place previous owners out and the property registered in my name and took residence 13/01/2022, take into consideration i had to stay in Johannesburg with Family for two months and had to rent a storage unit for my hose hold contents, due to the lengthy registration upon arrival in Durban the morning of 13/01/2022 after an long drive from 2 AM to be greeted by and Roach invested discussing house, and and property agent that could not see anything wrong with the condition of the house, now what was i supposed to do but take occupancy and start work myself, as every where i turned i was told not our problem, the house did not have any electrical connection to the city council the electrical wiring in the house was appalling and had to be redone at my expense, i found the Geyser was removed from the house, when questioning with the bank insurance they said they cant assist bas this is new registration, and the property agents and Lawyers just ignored me and pushed me away, saying not our problem, this all having a beetle certificate and Electrical compliance certificates issued in September 2021 to get the Bond registered, (I do believe the certificates to have been flaccified, and that no site inspections was done not even by the bank) accepting the Loss i replaced the geyser and got the Electrical wiring in the house redone to get council to connect and register the water and electricity in my name, this took two months give or take, then 11 April 2022 we had the first freak rains and i had water coming trough the walls seeping trough the from under the tiles until the house floors was under water about 7 to 10 cm deep, this brings us to the Complaint, i then lodged the claim with the Standard bank insurance they had the accessors to come do site inspection, and evaluation and finally on the 15th September 2022 they rejected the claim due to Wear and Tear and Defects in Design Material or construction, and i find that not acceptable,
I have a valid claim in my opinion and have questions yet to be answered how was the bond registered with the property being in the condition it was in, what is Standard bank insuring in the policy for if they reject the claim due to wear and tear if i only had the place for 3 months? how was the bond registered if the place has design defects or the wrong materials used?, please I'm Desperate and will not let this go.
