STANDARD BANK HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE
I lodged a claim with Standard Bank Home Owners Insurance for Private Bankers for water damage from a re connection of water by the municipality on the 21st July 2015. The washer on the bathroom tap popped and water flooded my house. The insurance has rejected my claim stating firstly that they do not cover municipality re connections resulting in water damage and the after my insistence and making them go through the policy line by line with me, they agreed to dispatch a plumber to look and write a report. The plumber reported natural causes for the flooding and yet the insurance are still continuing to reject the claim. We have phoned in a number of times to allow insurance to reconsider and still they continue to reject the claim. I have written a formal compliant to the Private Banking Insurance on the 13th August and have still not had a response. My home is wet and damp and now this is a health and safety issue for my family. Should I not receive a response in 24 hours, this case will be taken to the newspapers, the Ombudsman and I will change my private banking to another bank that appreciates customers that pay on time and are diligent.
