Standard Bank Homeloan *****

To everyone out there:

I know in this country in 2016 you have to do everyones jobs for them and double check if everyone did their job correctly. This is a WARNING, never trust Standard Bank home loans when they assure you that everything is in order with your home loan after numerous phone calls and a visit to the branch.

I took a homeloan 2 years ago and signed a contract for my bond INCL building insurance and life insurance. In 2 years time I never received a single statement or any kind of paperwork. My instalment was less than what agreed upon so I thought I can leave it like most peolple will and be glad that it is less but I wanted to make sure my life cover and building cover was active and that I was covered in case something happens. Myself and my husband called them a few times and they assured me everthing was covered and active and all in order. The one day I was at a branch for work related stuff and decided to just check again because it still bothered me. Again the lady at the branch showed me on the screen everything was in order. Lucky for me I decided to sell the property. When the lawyers asked me to get them a statement of the account I realised I never received one single statement and requested a updated statement. I received a phone call from the lawyers saying something is wrong with my statement and I should contact Standard Bank immediatly. My balnce on my homeloan was R34 000 more than what I signed for 2 years ago. Yes I know you pay alot of interest in the beginning, but this was way more than interest. So I took the statement and worked through every transaction from 2014 up until today. Then I realised with a huge shock, don't really know why I was shocked, that although the building and life insurance was covered and active it was never deducted from by bank account but ADDING to my loan balance with interest upon interest. I made an appointment with one of the homeloan consultants at the branch. He phoned the home loan department and it took me a while to try and explain to the consultant on the other line what the problem is, after my patience ran out I asked to speak to a senior person. According to her my debit order and setting was done incorrectly from the beginning of my home loan. So say for example I decided to keep that property for another few years, how many hundreds of thousands of rand would have added to my home loan amount? Ridiculous to say the least. Obviously I told them I would not be held liable for that costs because their employees is *********** to do their jobs, and that AFTER we checked up on this matter on numerous occasions. They told me to log a complaint on their website. Stupid me thought that was why I took a days leave to visit a branch to get this sorted. What was I thinking. But ok, I logged a complaint and told them it was an urgent matter because I already sold the property and the lawyers are waiting for the final amount the settle the homeloan. Again suprised!!!!! No feedback yet. Received an AUTOMATIC email informing me it will take 14 days. I forwarded that mail to the home loan department telling them again this is an urgent matter. STILL nothing. So now I sit here and wonder what if the transfer of my property goes through? Where will me and my family go, maybe a nice hotel accommodation for the holidays and some storage for my furniture all on Standard banks account OR what if I lose my deal on my property and have 2 x homeloans on my name? This is not only affecting me but also the people buying my property and the people who's property I am buying and the lawyers. Not sure the sarcasm will help but I find this frustrating to say the least. Maybe I can block the debit order, I'm sure then I will get a phone call.

If it is not to much trouble for Standard Bank employees can someone please contact me like yesterday.

Elzahn Crous
