Standard Bank home loan opting out of payment holiday, Access bond suspended
I have a home loan with Standard Bank. Due to Covid I was told to have a payment holiday April to June. I did not opt-out of this as it was useful at the time. However this lead to a suspension of my access bond facility. I asked for a reinstatement of the access bond facility. The debit order resumed from July and I have been paying the installments. This payment holiday has now been reinstated for September to November, without me asking for it and without Standard Bank informing me. This now again lead to a suspension of the Access loan facility. There is substantial advance payment in the bond, but I am now, again, unable to access this. I again have started the long process of opting-out of something that I have not asked for and it is a substantial process to get the Access facility re-instated. This is just bad practice and not acceptable. Surely it would be better to let the customer decide if they want a payment holiday.
