STANDARD BANK HOME INSURANCE IS THE WORST

To all new homeowners, PLEASE DO NOT GO TO STANDARD BANK AND TAKE HOME INSURANCE. We've had a Standard Bank home insurance for the past 23yrs and all they do is take your monthly payments. We had so many problems and they've never approved anything. Our wall fell during rains previously and they said that they won't pay, yet it was a free standing wall. The was a crack in the kitchen and lounge floors and they didn't help us.

We recently had a problem with our gyser. Tried calling the number for insurance for 1WEEK , EACH TIME WAS ON HOLD FOR OVER 50MIN. Only managed to get through the second week after 45min. The problem is that the gyser is 22yrs old and at times water is not hot plus the hot water is just a trickle in the kitchen.

They sent 2 guys to check. The water was hot when they came!!! Obviously,, they opened the bathroom tap and after a 20 litre basin was filled declared that it was hot. So then they couldn't understand.

Then they opened all the taps outside and went into the ceiling without a light. Mud all over from their boots on everything. Said that they couldn't see a problem except with maybe the presure . Obviously,, how can you see what I'm complaining about. Water gets cold at times and they could clearly see that the water wasn't coming through in the kitchen. He even said it's because of the gyser.

They left, I could still hear water gushing and thought it's the geyser. When I went to check, I could see water coming from the bedroom.

The water was gushing from the ensuite, the bedroom carpet was ruined, shoes under the bed wet.

They did not close the tap. MY CARPET, ROOM, ENSUITE WAS FLOODED.

AND YES AFTER THEY LEFT ABOUT 2HRS THE WATER WAS COLD AGAIN!!! We said that we should have changed a long time ago but because we hardly had problems left it.

SO PLEASE DON'T DON'T TAKE STANDARD BANK HOME INSURANCE, I THINK HOLLARD IS THE UNDERWRITERS.

RATHER TAKE OUTSURANCE, OR SANTAM OR ANYONE ELSE BUT STANDARD BANK. PLEASE DON'T TAKE STANDARD BANK
