STANDARD BANK HAVE TOTALLY MESSED ME AROUND.
Standard Bank Loans Department, specifically Banele Simelane. My application began on the 6th December 2023 whereby I was requested to send all relevant documentation to him which I did. He informed me telephonically that all was in order and the money should be paid out as soon as I have signed the contract which will be sent the next morning. He then told me that my employment letter had discrepancies. I suggested my boss contact them or draw up a new letter but he simply said it has been declined already and had failed ALL verification steps. I then logged a complaint when finally He failed to inform me that my one payslip was not showing the last column which was the salary column. Praveen from complaints responded highly apologetically wanting to immediately proceed with the application and rectify. I received an email saying they couldn't reach me, but I had no missed calls so left my number and also offered to call them. I waited. I called a few times and then was told he had gone home for the day. The urgency of this loan was due to medical reasons might I add. Morning of the 8th I called again and emailed again. Praveen called me and said my loan was being verified. By the 11th it was still being verified. By the 13th still no response, so I contacted head of complaints, Raeez Adams and Friedl Claassen. Raeez was extremely helpful and sorted it all out by the 19th saying all was accepted by Discovery (my bank) and the payment should clear hopefully the morning of the 20th latest 21st, he said 24 - 48 hours. the morning of the 20th i received a contract which I had to first complete which was signed by Banele Simenale and then signed by me. I mailed to ask if all was in order and they (Raeez and Banele) said yes payment is processed and waiting for authorisation. At 3pm I sequestered an update again at 5pm, I got no response and emailed once again this morning the 21st. I then received this email: Simelane, Banele B 9:15 AM (2 hours ago) to me, Raeez
Good day Miss Hopkins,
I trust this email finds you well. I tried calling you, however call couldn’t go through. I am writing to address a matter concerning the release of your application, which has encountered a complication during the employment verification process.
Kindly be informed that our releasing team encountered difficulties in verifying your employment status due to you being employed by overseas companies. Therefore, necessary requirements were not met to facilitate the release of funds.
Kindly be advised that application was motivated, however the decision was made not to release due to employment verification.
Regards
Now bare in mind my boss in the UK, had just paid 30K into my Discovery bank (as if that isn't enough verification over and above letter of employment proof of pay over 9 years etc. I used most of my leave pay to pay rent, medical etc, expecting my loan for Christmas and to cover my pet and Childs medical bills.
