Standard bank have no standards
We have had standard Bank home insurance for 8 years. In this period we have had 2 claims (both were for a burst geyser) Each time has been a HORRIBLE experience. Standard bank call center operators have been unfriendly, unhelpful and to be honest down right RUDE. Really doing the bare minimum and trying to find loop holes out the claim at every turn. I tried to place a claim for a gate motor this morning, the guy asked what I think is wrong and I told him what I THINK could have happened bearing in mind that I’m no electrician and he rejects the claim without even sending sometime to assess it based on what I say to Him. I pleaded with Him to send a professional Out and to make sure that the rejection of the claim in valid and He said he cannot do anything I should lay a complaint if I’m not happy... well IM NOT HAPPY. My car is insured with momentum and that’s most definitely the route I’m going to be looking for home Insurnace in the new year. Thanks for nothing standard bank.

For doing the right thing by sending a an assessor our to check out our gate motor. Turns out it was a legitimate claim after all.
I’m seriously sad to say that aside that ... our endless drama with you continues!
Our initial claim for the geyser that burst on the 17th of December is finally making headway or so I thought - only to discover today that we are require to pay a second and third and even forth excess for the fixing of wall, the floor and the cupboards that was damaged by the burst Beyers and the removal of the burst geyser. THIS IS ALL ONE CLAIM - ie: ONE excess!
simply it’s a burst geyser but standard bank has cleverly separated the claim so that every piece of damage caused requires an excess to be paid before it can be repaired! So in total we will have to pay 4 separate excesses once everything that has been damaged will be fixed!
Shame on you Standard bank!
Our service and turn around time from the December has been disgusting and I’m so disillusioned by the way you have treated us, valued us as customers and tried to find a way of milking us in the time we need. I’m hoping that this is a one time
Mistake and we are the anomalie and that this is not how you treat everyone that considers themselves a loyal customer.
