Standard Bank HATES making money. They are allergic to it

<p>What a weird and confused bank. So app**** for a home loan via Standard Bank pinelands. Provided all the necessary documents and within a week they noted that they don't take applications where the applicant doesn't have a Standard Bank transactional account. This sounded bizarre so I called Standard Bank home loans directly, received great service from a chap and he noted they actually do accept home loans even if you don't bank with them. OK, second application going through. After a week I received a request for documents I ALREADY provided. No worries, I'm a reasonable guy. People lose things. So I forwarded the documents to Standard Bank. Two weeks go by. Nothing. I call again. Nope, the home loan was rejected because I don't have a standard bank account. FML. Ok, explain the situation and they are going to reinstate the loan. I called the assigned individual who helped me (Mbengeni, Sharon S) and see noted she didn't receive my email. Ai. So I told her I'm forwarding her the documents again and I'm not leaving the phone until she opens my email. Miracle! My email somehow went through. Funny how things happen when you start taking responsibility. It's now been a whole month later and tomorrow I'm only hearing for the first time if my home loan will proceed. Then the valuator still has to go out, etc. Way to go standard bank. I am a property investor and would have thrown future property deals your way if they could handle this small one. But they face planted and failed miserably. I'm not even mad, I just feel sorry for them. But I'll guess FNB and SA home loans will be making millions of rands from me. I can highly recommend those two for your home loans needs. Stay away from SA home loans. They are the Scientology of banks. Pity.</p>
