Standard Bank - ********** Transaction seen as "Normal"

In December my credit card was used in ********** transaction on 22 December at 14h00 to buy R8 000 worth from online shop, OneDayOnly. I immediately called the bank to stop the transaction. I was told that this would be investigated and that ,in 3 months' time, I would be notified if they think it was my negligence.

I contacted OneDayOnly about it as well, to stop them from sending out the content that was brought on their site. They notified me that they had to be notified by the Card issuing bank to stop it, but they expressed that they will work with the bank and I should not be worried. Standard bank later on credited me my +- R8000 and all was quiet.

Now, 6 months later, Standard Bank notifies me that it was me who did the purchase, that I used the OTP of the site and, if I have any problems with this, that I need to speak with the merchant, but they will go ahead and take the money from my account.

I honestly believe this is unfair because: 1) I followed ***** procedure and did inform the Standard Bank ***** line immediately when I received the SMS that stated the transaction happened. (less than 5 minutes after it went happened) 2) I did notify the merchant, who said the bank needed to get in contact with them 3) I informed the ***** team at Standard Bank regarding the merchant's response 4) I know I was not a victim of SIM swap, As my SIM has never experience any outage or glitches 5) I still have the credit card in my possession, so I know it was not swiped or used. 6) Standard Bank should have informed me within the 3 months they said they would if it was my problem, now it is 6 months later.

If it was me who did the purchase, why would I call you and try to stop everything as it was happening??

There were also other ********** transactions of approx. R1800 worth of McDonalds that was also done. Yet with reversing this, you had no problem?

I am in the process of buying a house and was in the process of getting a house loan from them, but if this is how they handle *****, I do not wish to do further business with them.

For your survey question "Scale 1 to 10, How likely would you recommend Standard Bank to your Friends or Colleagues?" That is easy.... 0
