Standard Bank #***** #***********Staff #PoorCommunication #NoActionOnComplaints
I'm a victim of identity *****, someone opened a credit card with Standard Bank using my names and address (the bank only has this two things because they have not emailed, called or SMSed me), I was made aware of the fact that I have a credit card with the blue bank when they sent me a letter via post about the credit card. I immediately went to the Wonderpark branch of the bank to notify them, stop the card and clear my name. I was given a phone to speak to their ***** department and I was promised the card would be stopped. I then went to the Ga-Rankuwa branch of the bank to submit the required documents (Affidavit, my ID &Proof of address) which were then sent to application ***** department. This happened around August & September 2020. I get no response, fast forward to 22/12/2020 I receive yet another letter, this time I am being threatened with S129 & S130 of NCA 34 of 2005 and I return to the Ga-Rankuwa branch to found out what is happening, I am again given a phone to call the ***** department which requested that the branch sent the documents via email, this time I asked to be cc'd on the email to ensure the branch did send them. I am yet to receive feedback from Standard Bank to this day, instead my credit buro is becoming messy. I have complained on their complaints platform (***) and twitter account yet there is still no response even there. I am disappointed that such a huge and reputable organisation can be so *********** in handling a matter that can be resolved. I do not have any accounts with standard bank, my ID is registered with the SAFPS yet the blue bank went ahead and opened a credit on that ID. I do not even earn enough to qualify for R100000 limit on a credit card yet the bank approved it.
