Standard Bank *****

I have been with Standard Bank credit card for more nearly 10 years. As I became more and more disenchanted that in 2019 I decided to contact the Ombudsman, who advised me to contact the bank first, which I did. I went on to query it about 11 months ago but I left the bank feeling more confused than when I went in. Furthermore, I received 2 email responses from Standard Bank in 2020 (from 2 different people) the first apologizing for the 'error' and the other telling me the reason for the discrepancy is because I 'was only making minimum payment'. It would help a great deal if some of these calculations can be explained simply because their numbers don't add up. Clearly, if she read through my complaint she would have noticed that I have been paying over R1000 monthly, as I referenced the amounts below. I only started making minimum payment when I noticed their numbers weren’t adding up.

What made me very suspicious was the fact that, for instance November 2019 my balance due is R4603.89 whereas it was 4958.30 in May 2019. Now, how does that make even make sense, having sunk in an extra R5/6000 into the debt. What is even more alarming is the fact that the debt itself is fluctuating, despite me paying almost R800 over the recommended amount. Now pause for a second and let the absurdity and hypocrisy sink in. This and their callous indifference suggests to me they know exactly what they were doing. For way too long, they’ve been spinning their wheels and picking my pocket. I know there are lots of smoke and mirrors in the murky world of banking but this just isn't adding up. I would like to scrutinize all the prior transactions but I really don't have the time nor the appetite. hard to tell wether it's loan shark-ing or banking. I feel like I’m getting nowhere with their responses. It’s hard taking ***** from a banking institution.

I would love for them to show me a full accounting of how much I 'owe' now as well as chances are they owe me some money at this point..
