Standard bank ***** case

On July 21 2022 I was ****med. I received an sms asking me to verify my account or it will be frozen (having had my account inconveniently frozen before by standard bank- when I received an sms on a Thursday afternoon and being a nurse worked 7-19 from Friday through to Sunday could not verify my details and account was frozen) I followed the hyperlink that took me to standardbank online banking log in. I logged in, received an OTP which I entered. I was then prompted to enter the OTP again as it was resent. I assumed there was a glitch as the page was not progressing as usual and after entering the OTP for the third time I decided to leave the page and request time off to go into the branch. I received an SMS a few minutes later stating ********** activity was noted on my account please confirm activity, I logged onto my banking app, to see that there were two transactions for R10000 deducted. I immediately phoned to report that it was not me who authorised the transaction and explained the sms I received and rep**** to. I then opened up a ***** case with the SAPS and standard bank. Two months later minimal feedback despite endless emails being sent. The feedback I receive is when I phone and ask what is happening. The call centre can pass on your message to the ***** department no direct line. At one point I was told by an investigator I compromised my details so if the ***** that stole my money has it, I can have the money back, to which I said that’s not acceptable. Their system flagged the *****, yet nothing was done and the transaction was allowed? A second operator told me that I told the investigators that “I expected the outcome” at no point to I accept the outcome of not getting my money back. Suspicious event number two is that the same day my money was ****** I received my tax return. Who and how were the *****’s aware of the large sum (for a nurse)in my account. I am not impressed with the service delivered, as Standard bank said it would take a month to investigate, yet here I am two months later with little feedback or reassurance that my money is safe or I will even get it back.
