Standard Bank ***** Case ***
26 Nov 2019 Standard Bank ***** division phoned me to tell me thatsomeone was trying to put through my crediit accout the sum of R15 000-00 three times. While talking to this lady she reported that more $ transactions were trying to come through. My card was immediately stopped and I asked that the first R15 000 be returned. This was not done and R15 000 was allowed to go through with another R1000 for MTN. I did not give the OTP for these amounts and ***** was being commited. I went to the bank the next day and spoke to Jolene Johnson who "escalated" my claim. While at the bank I was called by the ***** section of Standard bank by a lady who offered "due to my age" to refund me R8000-00 only. I refused the offer. I wanted the bank to accept responsibility for the ***** and cover me for this loss. I received a letter re ***** Case *** on 3 December 2019 offering me a 50% refund. I again refused the offer. I reported the case to the Banking Ombudsman and received a reply on 27 January 2020 telling me they would keep me informed every 15 days of the outcome of their investigation. It is now 6 February 2020 and no response. My credit account now stands at R16 000-00 ********** entries plus interest being added to this outstanding amount! I stress that at no time was my credit card out of my possession and that "one time passwords" were not entered by me. Finally for the bank to tell me on the telephone that due to my age they were offering me 50% refund is innsulting and ageist.
