Standard bank flipping off the High Court
I wrote a review 2 weeks ago or so about Standard bank closing my (small) business account and removing all of my money from the account. Also noteworthy of this is that they did not transfer the money into my existing personal account, they simply removed it and I could not access it almost causing my business to close its doors because of cashflow.
Some more details as to why they closed it: apparently they picked up that there was no proof of physical address for the business and hence notified me via phone and e-mail on 19 Feb 2020 that I must please submit this. Nothing about it being urgent. On 25 Feb 2020 I rep**** to the mail stating that there is some details on their paperwork that they sent me that needs changing - I have yet to receive a reply - and on 26 Feb they simply close my account!
What I have learned since then is that in June 2019 the High Court made a ruling against the very same Standard Bank that it was ******* to remove money from a person's account without the consent of the account holder (https://www.iol.co.za/business-report/companies/standard-bank-cant-deduct-money-from-your-account-to-settle-debts-anymore-***9). Even if it was to settle outstanding debt. And in my case there is no debt!!!! Ridiculous right!
So my question is this - how can a bank be found guilty of a **********/*******/non-compliant act by the High Court and then they repeat it again? With the full knowledge, and I have to assume support, of the senior leadership team of Standard bank? And they know because I mailed all the various CEO's within Standard bank! Is this not plain theft and also an act that shows they disrespect the South African Judiciary system?
Anyone else had similar experiences with this bank?
