Standard Bank Expects Me to Pay for Their Mistake? Unacceptable!

Back in 2022, I faced a serious issue when R15,000 was ****** from my Standard Bank credit card. This was shocking because the card used had been cancelled by me months before, making it impossible, or so I thought, for anyone to use it, especially for buying things online.

I reported this issue to Standard Bank, hoping for a quick and supportive response. Instead, I found their reaction baffling. They initially told me the purchases were made using a physical card and PIN – which didn't add up because the transactions were made online, and my card was no longer active.

I've made numerous attempts to sort this out, sending many emails and visiting the bank several times. During one visit, even the bank staff agreed with me that the explanation they gave didn't make sense for an online transaction with a cancelled card. They promised to investigate further, but two years have passed, and I'm still waiting for my money to be returned. Meanwhile, Standard Bank is expecting me to pay the R15,000 that was ******.

This experience has been extremely frustrating. It's crucial for a bank to stand by its customers, especially when there's clear evidence of *****. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory, leaving me feeling ignored and let down by Standard Bank.
