Standard Bank

My mother died 10th September and 4 days later my father was put into hospital for 6 weeks. During this time I was told by Standard Bank I was unable to register her death I would have to wait for my father. Which I did.

They wouldn't give me the balance outstanding so I could pay which i fully understand. Instead a couple of weeks later and two phone calls later they said I must go lodge the death certificate with the bank at my local branch. This had to be done with my father in tow given a couple of weeks for rehab. We gave them a copy of the death certificate and requested they pull the joint will from their deceased estates department. To date we are still waiting for this will. They also handed over the account to attorneys for debt collection. On all occasions i have mentioned my mom's death and told each agent that we are sorting it out with our local branch.

The credit card division are lucky that standard bank themselves are more helpful. They have left a family in torment with constant badgering. Do you not put notations on your system? with technology today surely you can see the death certificate and see that we are working with a branch to sort everything out. 1. Get decent programmers so this doesn't happen to other people Disgusting display of inter-company disfunction. And to think we just opened a business account with you........ This is the last thing any grieving person needs to go through. Shame on you Card Division.
