Standard Bank - don't go near them!

Prior to October last Year and despite various requests to stop, I still kept receiving SPAM from Standard Bank S A. I then asked them in October 2021 to close my accounts. Now, given that you can open an account online, surely you could close one online? No, was told to visit a local branch, DURING LOCKDOWN LEVEL 3? to close my account? Was then told that I needed to send a letter in PDF format and all types of administrative **** in order for me to close my account. Today, 5 months later, I get a call from Standard Bank asking if I would authorise a ********** payment from my account?
