Standard bank does not care for their customers and enjoys participating in false advertising.

I poured petrol in at a petrol station. I then realized I do not have my card with me. Normally this isn't a problem. I took out my phone. Booted up the Standard Bank (absolutely horrid design on the new app) And I created myself a new(not so) Instant Money voucher.

But the (not so) Instant Money voucher number was not displayed to me. So I figured I'd wait 5 minutes. The cellular network might be slow. Nothing out of the ordinary, right?

But then I received a message informing me that the money was paid from my account. So I thought I'd query the (not so) instant money voucher.

I phoned the general support number. Selected the mobile app option. where I was told I'd have to go to the (not so) Instant Money department. They transferred me.

When I finally got to the (not so) Instant Money department I was informed that the ***** department has placed a block on my (not so) Instant Money voucher.

I was then transferred to the ***** department who informed me that they'd have to have the (not so) Instant Money department release the block.

By this time I had to hand my (orders of magnitude) more expensive laptop to the petrol station attendant as a sign of good faith that I will return with the money and I drove home. I dove home, got my Standard Bank card from my computer stand, drove back to the petrol station. I had then withdrawn the money owed, paid the petrol station what I owed them, got my laptop back and drove to work before the ***** and the (not so) Instant Money department could sort out which one of them needed to unblock the voucher.

I sat down at my desk and started eating my lunch. About halfway through my lunch I was informed the block was removed from the voucher. Like I needed the voucher in front of my desk?

I had politely explained to the gentleman that because of Standard Bank's tardiness I was forced to find an alternative method and did not need the voucher any longer. I was told that the fee is irreversible and I just had to accept that.

I will be closing all my accounts with Standard Bank and moving to a bank that cares for their customers.
