Standard Bank credit card incompetence

I have been a Standard Bank client for over 25 years. All of a sudden Standard Bank changed the statement date of my credit card from the 22nd of each month to the 2nd of each month i.e. moving it forward by 10/11 days. I spoke to Zandile at the call centre who admitted that this was a Standard Bank system problem and offered to correct this matter but advised that it would take TWO months to readjust. As this was totally unacceptable, I asked to be put through to the complaints department where I spoke to Sophy Masela on 7 March 2019.

Following up on this call, I lodged a written complaint requesting that Standard Bank redraw my credit card statement as at 22 February 2019, which has been my close-off date for the past 25+ years. I received a response from Sophy on 11 March 2019 stating "I apologise most sincerely for the entire breakdown in service that you experienced..." and also ..."please be assured that you are an esteemed client of the Bank....".

On 19 March 2019 I called and Sophy was not available so I spoke to her team leader Zuziwe who requested time to investigate this matter and promised me a call by 1pm the following day (i.e. 20 March 2019).

On 20 March 2019 I received 3 emails from Sophy but no phone call from Zuziwe. In these emails, Sophy advised that she had amended my cutoff date to the 22nd of each month and confirmed that she would be checking my account on Monday 25 March 2019 for payment details and provide me with the new statement that would have closed on 22 March 2019.

To date (27 March 2019) I have not received the revised February 2019 statement nor the new March statement which should have closed on Friday 22 March 2019.

It certainly seems as though Standard Bank do not practice Treating Clients Fairly and if this is the way they treat an "esteemed client" (their words), I am not surprised that they will be closing 91 branches shortly.

I still have no idea where I stand as far as this matter is concerned!!!!

Standard Bank have still not resolved my complaint. All they did was tell me I need to pay over R6,000.00 to ensure I am not charged interest. Why is it that I am threatened with interest when the problem was caused by Standard Bank's incompetence in the first place? And I still do not have the two statements as per my original request - I have simply been told that this will all resolve itself "....our system requires a 30 day cycle to initiate the changes". I find this attitude astounding to say the least! Clearly Standard Bank do not value their clients nor do they even try to assist in resolving a complaint. Surely someone within the Bank could draw up the two statements for me as requested. As the changes made by Standard Bank were incorrectly done, I now sit with the problem that my budget is affected as a result, so I would like to know from the Bank, who it is they think will pay for loan interest on the money I have had to "find" to pay them? It does not surprise me to read of the lady who drove her car into the front window of the Boksburg branch - I empathise with her and fully understand her frustration as I am beginning to think it would be safer to stuff my mattress than use the Bank - certainly my stress levels would subside!
