Standard Bank Consultants USELESS, and their system, MESSED UP!!!
I took out Vehicle and Asset Finance with Standard Bank in Oct 2016 for my vehicle. Originally I signed the contract to have deductions made on the 30th of each month. With my first installment going off in December 2016. However by March 2017 my salary date got changed to the 15th of each month. And before I could get a change to go to the bank and change the date of my debit order the deductions went off on 15th of every month since. The bank uses a "tracking system" that picks up when there is money in your account and if there is no money on the arranged date the system keeps on tracking for another week or two to ensure payments are made. Thus they were able to pick up that I was getting paid earlier, whichis a good thing, I agree. However the most confusing and annoying bit started after my debit order for my vehicle went of the 15th of December 2017 and on the 22nd I received an sms stating, " Hi, for your convenience, your Vehicle and Asset Finance debit order for account no ending ****0001 will be processed on the 22 Dec to give you time to enjoy your NEXT family holiday. Your Jan'18 installment will be processed on the usual date". This sms I ofcourse ignored as i figured it was an automated sms that went through to all customers, and since my December installment had already gone off it didn't pertain to me. So while going through my online bank statement i noticed a R60 deduction on my account on 11 Jan '18 "VAF failed debit" I automatically assumed this was the bank trying to deduct my car payment for Jan. I only got paid on 15 January, and as I waited and waited for the installment to go off and by 26 January when no deduction was made yet I used some of the money. I mean, Who doesn't need a little extra money in Jan? I eventually got a change to go the Cape Gate branch on 30 Jan '18 consulted with one of the gentleman in the bank who put me on the line with the call centre. THEY WERE NOT OF ANY USE AT ALL... I was literally on the phone for over an hour being transfered from Customer Services to Credit Rehab and Recovery and back again. Each time a different person would be pick up in the same department and when i'd ask to speak to the same person as i did before in that department the next person would not know who i was talking about. After speaking to the 6th consultant, in three to four different departments. They all clearly do not understand their own system. The one consultant was not able to view my full profile, the other saying my account is in arrears another department has to handle my case, the other saying my account is not yet in arrears as there was once again a debit on their system for that very 30 Jan '18, but i would only receive the sms after 7pm, but usually sms' come through before 8am, The last consultant (and they all say their names so fast and unclear but expect you hear and remember it) was very unpleasant and he spoke so soft and unclear, adviced that i should phone back the following day when my account is actually in arrears so that arrangements could be made. ***?????? He also explained that the R60 was deducted because there was insufficent funds in my account on 11 Jan' 18 (OFCOURSE, I ONLY GET PAID ON THE 15th) as the system was still trying to make deductions for December. DEDUCTIONS THAT HAD ALREADY GONE OFF IN DECEMBER. No one was ofcourse able to tell me whether a double deduction will be made in February as I obviously cannot afford that. My enquire is thus still in the air!!
