Standard Bank coining it from their self-imposed "Payment Holiday", at the expense of their clients.
After becoming aware of the fact that Standard Bank had unilaterally imposed a "payment holiday" on accounts controlled by me, I addressed a PAIA enquiry to them. I simply want to know who, on behalf of Standard Bank imposed the "holiday" and who, acting on my behalf, either requested or agreed to the "payment holiday". The bank has not responded. I have sent numerous written requests for this information, only to be told that they are dealing with my enquiries. I have telephoned their call center and nobody can or will give me answer. I have "escalated" my query. Nobody is willing to engage me with the information. The oint being, that with every contract signed between Standard Bank and its customers, there is a non-variation clause. Meaning, neither party can change the rule of the game with out informing the other party, reducing the variation to writing and both parties signing the document. Standard Bank unilaterally imposed the "payment holiday" because they knew that some client's would default on payment. So they grabbed at the opportunity to merely extend facilities and benefit royally from the additional interest which they would earn from such a "holiday". The banks' actions were unconscionable.
