Standard bank charging R3500 for statements for my mom whom is a pensioner.

I went with my mom earlier today to the Westgate branch to obtain statements from 2001 to 2012 where we were told that it will cost us R3500 to obtain these bank statements and there is a possibility that my mom will not even get these statements due to a record keeping policy and that even though she does not get the statements the cost still is the same. Now my problem is with this is why should she pay that large amount to obtain statements related to her finances at the bank? whose salary or holiday are we paying for? understanding that all this is kept on a system i still cannot understand why the large amount to get this just for someone to enter the required date range on a system and then print it. We were also told that the branch needs to order these statements and it can take up to 7 days. I personally is with another bank and have been with them quite some time and the charge me at the most R15 for an entire years statements should i require it for a time frame older that 5years, But standard bank wants to charge my mom whom is a pensioner with a case against her pension fund hence why we required the statements R40 per month statement.Daylight ******* from a bank that looks after their own pockets, but having a slogan "it can be". After this morning i understand that slogan as "It can be Standard bank that is robbing their clients" especially with these outrages prices just for statements. Damn if that is what they charge for 15 to 20mins work. I would like to apply for a job their as i would be living like a king to receive that for such small amount of work
