Standard Bank Charging me R176 to close my account

Standard Bank is charging me a R176 to close my cheque account with them.

Dear Standard Bank,

According to my bank statement received yesterday my account has a positive balance.

When I went to close my account today the consultant informed me that my account is in a negative and need to pay R176 to close it.

The consultant could not explain why and when he did it made no sense. There is no activity on this account i. E debit orders etc.

Why are you charging me to close my account??
