Standard Bank charging me for their incompentance

On 6 June I made a payment on the e-Siyakhokha system (Ekurhuleni Municipality) with my Master debit card. I realized that the amount paid was wrong and took responsibility. I immediately phoned Standard bank was just passed the buck to e-Siyakhokha, and upon phoning e-Siyakhokha, they did the same. *Note: Calls made on 6 June 8:50 (Zital) and 09:08 (Nonthlantla) to Standard bank ***) and e-Siyakhokha respectively.

Today I saw that I was indeed charged with an unpaid item as everybody refused to take responsibility and assist me with this matter at hand.

After phoning Standard bank this morning I was informed that the call center cannot reverse bank charges that I must go to the branch. This will cause me to take time of work, explain this situation AGAIN to somebody to MAYBE reverse the money – in what – a month’s time? - and then I am not even mentioning the fact on how bad an unpaid debit order is for my credit record!

Explaining to me the processes and different departments in Standard bank have absolutely no effect on me - I apparently have an Elite account but are treated like an idiot, as from an external perspective, I see Standard Bank, not Complaints Department, branches, call centers, as different entities.

As this is a matter of principle now - I will end up at the ombudsman for this R115.00 as Standard bank is quick to deduct money from you - but try now to get that money back - it will most probably take a month to get this reversed.

After two months of switching to Standard bank - I seriously doubt if this was the correct choice, more the worst choice I have ever made, switching from FNB Private clients!
