Standard Bank ATMs Not To Be Trusted
On the 20th Feb 2015 i went to withdraw money from a Standard Bank ATM and after inserting my card in a screen that apppeared said Enter Voucher Number, i then pressed the Cancel button to restart the process. Once i restarted and inserted my card the proper screen appeared and i entered my Pin, now instead of getting an option to withdraw i was presented with the Enter Voucher Number screen again. This screen should only appear when using cardless service, i noticed that whatever number i typed in appeared without being encrypted,i then clicked Cancel again to get my card back but it was swallowed by the ATM. I called Standard Bank call center and the consultant said my card was blocked (call ***) and no transaction can be done from it. After 10-15 minutes on my way to work i received smses and R6930 was withdrawn.I reported this to the ***** Department and i was accused that i only blocked my card after withdrawals were made.Additionally the email says \In all probability you have been the victim of a card swop whereby the ********** obtained the original card (and matching PIN) which allowed them to make the ********** withdrawals"how did they obtain my card & PIN?"""
